Deity, Messiah, and the Resurrection
- We believe that God is Echad, as declared in the Shema, “a united one” or “compound unity,” eternally existent in three persons. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 48:16-17; 1 John 5:7-13)
- “‘Come close to me, and listen to this: since the beginning I have not spoken in secret, since the time things began to be, I have been there; and now Adonai ELOHIM has sent me and his Spirit.’ Thus says ADONAI, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Isra’el: ‘I am ADONAI, your God, who teaches you for your own good, who guides you on the path you should take.’” Isaiah 48:16-17
- We believe in the Deity of Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus the Messiah), that He is the “seed of the woman” as God promised, and that his virgin birth was to be a sign to Israel of His Messiahship.
- “Therefore Adonai himself will give you people a sign: the young woman will become pregnant, bear a son and name him ‘Immanu El [God is with us].” Isaiah 7:14
- “For a child is born to us, a son is given to us; dominion will rest on his shoulders, and he will be given the name Pele-Yo’etz El Gibbor Avi-’Ad Sar-Shalom [Wonder of a Counselor, Mighty God, Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace], in order to extend the dominion and perpetuate the peace of the throne and kingdom of David, to secure it and sustain it through justice and righteousness henceforth and forever. The zeal of ADONAI-Tzva’ot will accomplish this.” Isaiah 9:6-7
- “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1
- “For in him, bodily, lives the fullness of all that God is.” Colossians 2:9
- We believe in Messiah Yeshua’s life and his miracles yesterday and today. His vicarious and sacrificial death as our atonement, His bodily resurrection, His future return for His followers, both living and dead, and His future establishment of His kingdom on Earth. (Isaiah 53:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Isaiah 9:6-7; 1 Corinthians 11:26; Zechariah 12:6-10; Zechariah 14:16-21)
- “After forcible arrest and sentencing, he was taken away; and none of his generation protested his being cut off from the land of the living for the crimes of my people, who deserved the punishment themselves.” Isaiah 53:8
- We believe in the resurrection of both saved and lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to eternal separation from God, the latter being consigned to a state of everlasting punishment. (Daniel 12:2; Matthew 25:46; Psalm 69:28; Revelation 20:12-15)
- “He is a tower of salvation for his king; he displays grace to his anointed, to David and his descendants forever.” II Samuel 22:51
- “Many of those sleeping in the dust of the earth will awaken, some to everlasting life and some to everlasting shame and abhorrence.” Daniel 12:2
Bible
We believe that the Bible, composed of the Tanakh (Jewish Scriptures) or First Testament, and the Apostolic Writings of the New Covenant (B’rit Hadashah) or Second Testament, is God’s only infallible and authoritative Word.
“…and recalling too how from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which can give you all the wisdom that leads to deliverance through trusting in Yeshua the Messiah. All Scripture is God-breathed and is valuable for teaching the truth, convicting of sin, correcting faults and training in right living; thus anyone who belongs to God may be fully equipped for every good work.” II Timothy 3:15-17
Prayer
House of Prayer
ADONAI tells us that HIS house will be called a house of prayer. Therefore, prayer is one of this ministry’s core values and is taken very seriously. This is why we always provide an open altar and an altar call at every meeting.
“I will bring them to my holy mountain and make them joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house will be called a house of prayer for all peoples.” Isaiah 56:7
Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem / Intercessory Prayer
“On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen; all day and all night they will never keep silent. You, who remind the Lord, take no rest for yourselves; and give Him no rest until He establishes and makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.” Isaiah 62:6-7
We have been called to “pray without ceasing” for Jerusalem, for the peace and protection of her gates.
Praying at the Altar / Laying on of Hands
“Then children were brought to him so that he might lay his hands on them and pray for them, but the talmidim rebuked the people bringing them. However, Yeshua said, ‘Let the children come to me, don’t stop them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.’ Then, after laying his hands on them, he went on his way.” Matthew 19:13-15
“Bear one another’s burdens – in this way you will be fulfilling the Torah’s true meaning, which the Messiah upholds.” Galatians 6:2
There is always a guarantee that you will receive it if you ask for prayer. You will be prayed for when you approach the altar at our meetings. When one in the body is hurting, then we are all hurting. We believe in laying on hands when praying for someone, as the Spirit leads. If you are “overcome by the Spirit of God”, we will finish our prayer for you and move on to allow ADONAI to minister to you directly.
Gifts of the Ruach HaKodesh
We believe in the present ministry of Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit), whose indwelling enables the believer to live a godly life. (Jeremiah 31:31-34; John 14:15-17; Galatians 5:13-25)
“‘For this is the covenant I will make with the house of Isra’el after those days,’ says ADONAI: ‘I will put my Torah within them and write it on their hearts; I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will any of them teach his fellow community member or his brother, ‘Know ADONAI’; for all will know me, from the least of them to the greatest; because I will forgive their wickednesses and remember their sins no more.’” Jeremiah 31:31-34
At our meetings, you may often see these gifts in operation throughout the service. We invite the Ruach HaKodesh to our services. If you have not been in this environment before, be open and ready to receive what the Lord has for you!
There are nine supernatural gifts of the Ruach HaKodesh as expressed in I Corinthians 12:7-13: Word of Wisdom, Word of Knowledge, Faith (Faithfulness), Gifts of Healing, the Working of Miracles, Prophecy, the Ability to Judge Between Spirits, the Ability to Speak in Different Kinds of Tongues, and the Ability to Interpret Tongues. We believe in the moving of the Gifts of the Spirit in accordance with the scripture.
Here is a list of the definitions of the Gifts of the Spirit and biblical foundation to support our position:
- Word of Wisdom: Ability to judge correctly and to follow the best course of action based on knowledge and understanding. This could manifest through the ability to explain the “mysteries of the gospel” or “say an uttering of grave sentences“.
- “Y’hoshua the son of Nun was full of the Spirit of Wisdom, for Moshe had laid his hands on him, and the people of Isra’el heeded him and did what ADONAI had ordered Moshe.” Deuteronomy 34:9
- “I have not stopped giving thanks for you. In my prayers I keep asking the God of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, the glorious Father, to give you a Spirit of Wisdom and revelation, so that you will have full knowledge of him.” Ephesians 1:16-17
- Word of Knowledge: The truth of facts of life that a person acquires through experience or thought. This could be manifested through having “knowledge of mysteries of prophecies, types and histories of the Older Covenant” or having “a skill or readiness to give advice and counsel in perplexed cases.”
- “The Spirit of ADONAI will rest on him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and power, the Spirit of knowledge and fearing ADONAI…” Isaiah 11:2
- “My purpose is that they may be encouraged, that they may be joined together in love, and that they may have all the riches derived from being assured of understanding and fully knowing God’s secret truth, which is – the Messiah! It is in him that all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden.” Colossians 2:2-3
- Faith (Faithfulness): Faith or trust is a belief in or confident attitude toward God, involving commitment to His will for one’s life. To take it a step further, faithfulness is dependability, loyalty, and stability, particularly as it describes God in His relationship to human believers.
- “ADONAI will give every person a reward suited to his uprightness and faithfulness. ADONAI put you in my power today, but I would not raise my hand against ADONAI’s anointed.” I Samuel 26:23
- He responded, “Have the kind of trust (faith) that comes from God! Yes! I tell you that whoever does not doubt in his heart but trusts (has faith) that what he says will happen can say to this mountain, `Go and throw yourself into the sea!’ and it will be done for him. Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, trust (have faith) that you are receiving it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:22-24
- Gifts of Healing: To remove sin, anxiety, or the like; restore. That is, healing the sick by laying on of hands, anointing with oil, with a bare word, or with any combination of the above.
- “A while later, the son of the woman whose house it was fell ill; his illness grew increasingly serious until his breathing stopped. She said to Eliyahu, ‘What do you have against me, you man of God? Did you come to me just to remind me how sinful I am by killing my son?’ ‘Give me your son,’ he said to her. Taking him from her lap, he carried him into the room upstairs where he was staying and laid him on his own bed. Then he cried out to ADONAI: ‘ADONAI my God! Have you brought also this misery on the widow I’m staying with by killing her son?’ He stretched himself out on the child three times and cried out to ADONAI: ‘ADONAI my God, please! Let this child’s soul come back into him!’ ADONAI heard Eliyahu’s cry, the child’s soul came back into him, and he revived. Eliyahu took the child, brought him down from the upstairs room into the house and gave him to his mother; and Eliyahu said, ‘See? Your son is alive.’” I Kings 17:17-23
- “Yeshua went all over the Galil teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom, and healing people from every kind of disease and sickness.” Matthew 4:23
- Working of Miracles: Historic events or natural phenomena that violate natural laws but reveal God to the eye of faith at the same time.
- “ADONAI said to Moshe, ‘Here, I will cause bread to rain down from heaven for you. The people are to go out and gather a day’s ration every day. By this I will test whether they will observe my Torah or not. On the sixth day, when they prepare what they have brought in, it will turn out to be twice as much as they gather on the other days.’ Moshe added, ‘What I have said will happen when ADONAI gives you meat to eat this evening and your fill of bread tomorrow morning. ADONAI has listened to your complaints and grumblings against him – what are we? Your grumblings are not against us but against ADONAI.’ That evening, quails came up and covered the camp; while in the morning there was a layer of dew all around the camp. When the dew had evaporated, there on the surface of the desert was a fine flaky substance, as fine as frost on the ground.” Exodus 16:4-5, 8, 13-14
- “The festival of Shavu’ot arrived, and the believers all gathered together in one place. Suddenly there came a sound from the sky like the roar of a violent wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then they saw what looked like tongues of fire, which separated and came to rest on each one of them. They were all filled with the Ruach HaKodesh and began to talk in different languages, as the Spirit enabled them to speak.” Acts 2:1-4
- Prophecy: The ability to foretell future events or explain scripture through a peculiar gift of the Spirit. Predictions about the future and the end-time are special messages from God, often uttered through human spokespeople, which indicate the divine will for humanity on earth and in heaven.
- “He said, ‘Listen to what I say: when there is a prophet among you, I, ADONAI, make myself known to him in a vision, I speak with him in a dream.’” Numbers 12:6
- “No, this is what was spoken about through the prophet Yo’el: ADONAI says: ‘In the Last Days, I will pour out from my Spirit upon everyone. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my slaves, both men and women, will I pour out from my Spirit in those days; and they will prophesy.’” Acts 2:16-18
- Ability to Judge between Spirits (Discernment of Spirits): The power to see into the spirit realm and identify demons, distinguish between true and false prophets, discern the real and internal qualifications of any person for an office, or discover the inward workings of the mind by the Ruach HaKodesh.
- “Once, when we were going to the place where the minyan gathered, we were met by a slave girl who had in her a snake-spirit that enabled her to predict the future. She earned a lot of money for her owners by telling fortunes. She kept this up day after day, until Sha’ul, greatly disturbed, turned and said to the spirit, “In the name of Yeshua the Messiah, I order you to come out of her!” And the spirit did come out, at that very moment.” Acts 16:16,18
- Ability to Speak in Different Kinds of Tongues: The Spirit-given ability to speak in languages not known to the speaker or in an ecstatic language that the speaker or the hearers could not normally understand.
- “Then they saw what looked like tongues of fire, which separated and came to rest on each one of them.” Acts 2:3
- “All the believers from the Circumcision faction who had accompanied Kefa were amazed that the gift of the Ruach HaKodesh was also being poured out on the Goyim, for they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God. Kefa’s response was, “Is anyone prepared to prohibit these people from being immersed in water? After all, they have received the Ruach HaKodesh, just as we did.” Acts 10:45-47
- Ability to Interpret Tongues: The ability to render foreign languages readily and correctly into their language. This is not the same thing as translation.
- “I wish you would all speak in tongues, but even more I wish you would all prophesy. The person who prophesies is greater than the person who speaks in tongues, unless someone gives an interpretation, so that the congregation can be edified. I Corinthians 14:5
Salvation
Cleansed by Grace
The only means of being cleansed from sin is by grace, through faith in the shed sacrificial blood of Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus the Messiah). Also, regeneration by the Spirit of God is essential for personal salvation.
“For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for yourselves; for it is the blood that makes atonement because of the life.’” Leviticus 17:11
“For you have been delivered by grace through trusting, and even this is not your accomplishment but God’s gift.” Ephesians 2:8
Additional Scriptures: Romans 1:17; Habakkuk 2:4; John 3:3; Hebrews 11:6; Genesis 15:6
Resurrection
We believe in the resurrection of both saved and lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to eternal separation from God, the latter being consigned to a state of everlasting punishment.
“Many of those sleeping in the dust of the earth will awaken, some to everlasting life and some to everlasting shame and abhorrence.” Daniel 12:2
“They will go off to eternal punishment, but those who have done what God wants will go to eternal life.” Matthew 25:46
Additional Scriptures: Psalm 69:28; Revelation 20:12-15
Middle Wall of Partition
The middle wall of partition, which in times past separated Jews and Gentiles, has been broken down; the enmity between them was eradicated by the Messiah Yeshua.
“…at that time had no Messiah. You were estranged from the national life of Isra’el. You were foreigners to the covenants embodying God’s promise. You were in this world without hope and without God. But now, you who were once far off have been brought near through the shedding of the Messiah’s blood. For he himself is our shalom – he has made us both one and has broken down the m’chitzah which divided us by destroying in his own body the enmity occasioned by the Torah, with its commands set forth in the form of ordinances. He did this in order to create in union with himself from the two groups a single new humanity and thus make shalom, and in order to reconcile to God both in a single body by being executed on a stake as a criminal and thus in himself killing that enmity. Also, when he came, he announced as Good News shalom to you far off and shalom to those nearby, news that through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. So then, you are no longer foreigners and strangers. On the contrary, you are fellow-citizens with God’s people and members of God’s family. You have been built on the foundation of the emissaries and the prophets, with the cornerstone being Yeshua the Messiah himself. In union with him the whole building is held together, and it is growing into a holy temple in union with the Lord. Yes, in union with him, you yourselves are being built together into a spiritual dwelling-place for God!” Ephesians 2:12-24
Additional Scripture: Acts 10:34
New Covenant Body
The New Covenant body of the Lord is composed of both Jews and Gentiles who have accepted Yeshua HaMashiach as the promised Redeemer, and now they are to worship TOGETHER in the House of God.
“…that they may all be one. Just as you, Father, are united with me and I with you, I pray that they may be united with us, so that the world may believe that you sent me.” John 17:21
“For it was by one Spirit that we were all immersed into one body, whether Jews or Gentiles, slaves or free; and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.” I Corinthians 12:13
Additional Scriptures: Hebrews 10:25; Ephesians 10:6, 10-12; Psalm 133:1
Jewish Followers of Yeshua
As Jewish (either by birth or by being grafted in) followers of Yeshua, we are called to maintain our Jewish Biblical heritage and remain part of our people, as well as the universal body of believers. This is part of our identity and a witness to the faithfulness of God.
“‘Then what advantage has the Jew? What is the value of being circumcised? Much in every way! In the first place, the Jews were entrusted with the very words of God. If some of them were unfaithful, so what? Does their faithlessness cancel God’s faithfulness? Heaven forbid! God would be true even if everyone were a liar! – as the Tanakh says, “so that you, God, may be proved right in your words and win the verdict when you are put on trial.’” Romans 3:1-4
Additional Scriptures: I Corinthians 7:17-20; Acts 21:20-24
Sons and Daughters of Israel
The Jews, according to the flesh (descendants of Abraham through Isaac, whether through the bloodline of the mother or the father) who place their faith in Israel’s Messiah Yeshua, have not disowned or separated themselves from their race and Judaic Heritage but remain sons and daughters of Israel. Gentiles who place their faith in Israel’s Messiah, Yeshua, are also spiritual sons and daughters of Abraham.
“…there is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor freeman, neither male nor female; for in union with the Messiah Yeshua, you are all one. Also, if you belong to the Messiah, you are seed of Avraham and heirs according to the promise.” Galatians 3:28-29
Additional Scriptures: Romans 2:28-29; Genesis 15:6
Worship
We spell praise and worship F-R-E-E-D-O-M! We believe that praise and worship (Hallel and shachah) is a time of blessing ADONAI with our whole beings. This would include dancing, singing, playing an instrument, blowing a shofar, speaking in tongues, lying prostrate, kneeling, or even bowing before Him. Of course, order is always adhered to within the assembly.
“Sing to ADONAI a new song, his praise in the assembly of the faithful. Let Isra’el rejoice n their maker, let Tziyon’s children take joy in their king. Let them praise his name with dancing make melody to him with tambourine and lyre; for ADONAI takes delight in his people, he crowns the humble with salvation. Let the faithful exult gloriously, let them sing for joy on their beds. Psalms 149:1-5
“Then David danced and spun around with abandon before ADONAI, wearing a linen ritual vest. So David and all the house of Isra’el brought up the ark of ADONAI with shouting and the sound of the shofar.” II Samuel 6:14-15
“Praise him with a blast on the shofar! Praise him with lute and lyre!” Psalm 150:3
We desire that services always be opened with the sound of the Shofar. It is a call to assembly. The Tanakh implies the sound of the Shofar is the Voice of God, “As the sound of the shofar grew louder and louder, Moshe spoke; and God answered him with a voice.” This is an instrument of ADONAI and we will most likely hear it when Yeshua returns! “With trumpets and the sound of the shofar, shout for joy before the king, ADONAI!” Psalm 98:6
